about
This song is one of three water songs from my forthcoming album Spirit Family. It’s inspired by the beauty of the prayer for the feminine aspect of the water; the horizontal water that flows in the rivers and oceans, that lies in the lakes. In this way I offer my heart and my deepest prayer of thanks to Pachamama, to our grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends for bringing the joy, beauty and the life giving, nurturing qualities of the feminine to our lives.
Thank you for birthing us, caring for us, loving us and providing us with challenges which inspire us to grow. Thank you for the opportunity to dive deep into our emotions and find the treasures and the healing that lie there.
Thank you sacred water for the life you give us, for the cleansing and purification that you bring. We owe our lives to you. Please teach us to look after you, as you look after us. We love you and we honour you. Water is life!
For all our relations!
Aho mitakuye oyasin!
lyrics
Great mystery thank you for this life
For the earth where we belong
The medicines to heal our hearts
The fire to guide us on
We sing under the stars
The place where we come from
The mystery of this life unfolds
In the dance of the moon and sun
Chorus
Gracias por la vida
Y la medicina
Y el viaje del corazón
Gracias por el nuevo dia
Y el agua
Que es besada por el sol
Great mystery thank you for this love
For the way our hearts entwine
reflected in the water
Growing strong a s a jungle vine
Even in the desert
Where the rain will hardly fall
This love just keeps on growing
building bridges instead of walls
Chorus
Great mystery thank you for this heart
For the beating of the drum
The children of this fire
The generations yet to come
We take our sacred seeds
And we plant them on the earth
we water them with love
giving thanks for our rebirth
Chorus
Thank you for this life
And the medicine
And the journey of the heart
Thank you for this new day
And the water
That is kissed by the sun
